A tragic incident occurred in Sundia Housing Estate in Jagaddal as a 39-year-old employee of Shyamnagar Exide Battery Factory, Tapas Goswami, committed suicide by hanging himself.
According to sources, Tapas was unable to cope with the immense pressure of work and was struggling financially. Tapas used to work in the Industrial Assembly Department of the factory, but after the 2021 assembly elections, he was allegedly sacked from his job. He was then transferred to the Mechanical Engineering Department, where he found it challenging to cope with the work pressure.
Tapas was reportedly distressed due to his inability to manage the workload in the new department and was also struggling to pay off his debts after being out of work for 24 months. His relatives allege that the combination of work pressure and financial difficulties forced him to take this extreme step.
